The Big Welcome Bus Ticket 🚍

Saturday 30th September - Sunday 8th October, £16 (+ £1 booking fee)

Make travelling between campus and the city easy this Freshers’ Week by booking your 9-day bus pass. You will save money with this ticket if you travel between campus and the city six or more times during the 9-day period*. Tickets can be collected from the Students’ Union Welcome Desk before and during Arrivals Weekend.

*Saving based on Under 19 Dayrider ticket at £3.50/day or standard return at £3.40/ticket.

It’s arrivals and you’re finally here… make sure you honk for your college on the roundabout! Over this weekend, you’ll start to get to know your college JCR. They will host lots of events through the week, on top of all the events below, so you’ll have loads of choice.

Saturday 30th September - Friday 6th October, Alexandra Square

Pick up all your household essentials the sustainable way this Freshers by grabbing yourself some bargain pre-loved household goods. With recommended prices as low as 50p for a plate, it’s well worth having a rummage through the ECOShop!

LUSU Breakfast 🥐

Monday 2nd - Friday 6th October, 10 - 11:30am, The Learning Zone

Breakfasts on us this Freshers! Keep those social batteries charged up and grab a free brekkie with your student officers. Breakfast will include pastries, toast, fruit, tea and coffee. While stocks last!

Big Plant Sale 🌱

Monday 2nd / Wednesday 4th / Thursday 5th October, Alexandra Square

Prepare to live your plant parent fantasy and pick up a plant or two (or ten) and transform your new living space into a tropical paradise. Did you know: maintaining houseplants is shown to improve your productivity and reduce stress and anxiety. Unleash the power of the plants!

Wonka’s Chocolate Factory 🍭

Monday 2nd October, 10:30pm - late, the Sugarhouse

What’s the only thing sweeter than Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory? The Sugarhouse, of course. Open to all students, come and step into a world of pure imagination at the biggest nightclub in Lancaster.

Farmers’ Market 🧁

Tuesday 3rd October, Alexandra Square

You'll find everything from fresh produce to authentic street food and vintage clothing at our market. During Freshers' Week, the market will pop up on Tuesday. During term time, our market takes place every week on Tuesdays (in Engineering Square) and Thursdays (in Alexandra Square). 

African & Caribbean Society presents We Outside

Wednesday 4th October, 10pm - late, Mint

To mark the start of Black History Month in the UK, Lancaster African & Caribbean Society (ACS) are taking over Mint for We Outside. Expect massive vibes, full line-up of DJs and a great crowd.

Big Night On 🎉

Tuesday 3rd and Thursday 5th October, 6pm - late, Campus and the Sugarhouse

It’s time for a big night! Check with your college for your allocated night. You'll be starting the night on campus and exploring everything the college bars have to offer. After that, free buses will get you safely to your Students’ Union nightclub, the Sugarhouse, for your college free entry night! You better roll up, roll up as Sugar’s off to the funfair with full fairground decor and entertainments.

Freshers’ Fair 🎪

Wednesday 4th October, 11:30am* - 5pm, the Sports Centre

Freshers’ Fair is an unmissable part of your welcome to Lancaster experience. It’s a showcase of everything that Lancaster and your Students’ Union has to offer you including over 200 of our clubs, societies and student groups. You’ll also find a range of organisations with tonnes of freebies and student deals for you so come on down.

*From 10:30-11:30am the Fair will be open for accessibility.

Lancaster loves a Wednesday night, and we love 3-4-£6 VKs even more! VK are taking over for the night with giveaways and full decor. First 100 entrants will get a free bottle of VK and one lucky winner will bag a free VK jumper!

Which college will emerge victorious? Get your eggs and spoons at the ready, it’s Sports Day! Come down wearing active clothing and your college colours for all the usual Sports Day activities that you know and love with some twists thrown in.

During Freshers, our Sport Lancaster clubs will hold taster and trial sessions for you to get involved and give a sport a go.

Visit the Lake District 🚌

Saturday 7th October, 10am - 4pm, Windermere

At Lancaster, we’re lucky to get views right across the Morecambe Bay to the peaks of the world famous Lake District National Park. Come and explore the stunning town that is home to England’s largest lake, Windermere. You’ll be free to discover this beautiful setting as you wish.

The coach will depart from George Fox at 10am returning to campus at 4pm.

Naughty Noughties with Dick & Dom 🔥

Saturday 7th October, 10:30pm - late, the Sugarhouse

Let’s finish Freshers 2023 with a BANG(ER!) as TV legends Dick & Dom are fresh out of da bungalow to takeover Sugar with a heap of noughties nostalgia.

Trip to IKEA 📦

Sunday 8th October, 10am - 4pm, IKEA Warrington

Whether you’re looking for some last bits to spruce up your flat, fancy your own Djungleskog or just want some iconic Swedish meatballs to soak up a busy week, book your tickets for a seat on the coach to IKEA Warrington.

The coach will depart from George Fox at 10am returning to campus at 4pm.
